Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about JT WOODS:
Baylor, 6106 195 4.36. Three-year starter, San Antonio, TX. Earned Honorable Mention All-Big 12 honors twice. The former member of the Baylor track team and top-shelf sprinter brings incredible speed and burst to the back end. Has a knack for making a big play in big moments. His nine interceptions since the start of the shortened 2020 season should give a solid glimpse into what he can bring to the table once the ball is in the air. Tall slender build, Woods is a cover safety primarily playing both one and two high. Has been used in multiple alignments in the Baylor defense. Pass coverage in the deep zones is his strength. Easy backpedal he keeps proper leverage and balances routes in the deep zones. Fluid in transitions he’s smooth to flip his hips to get over the top in the deep outside. Excellent range to chase routes all over the back end. He’s never far from the ball. Sudden to change directions and react. Can quickly break on and track a dig route underneath with the ball in the air. Solid ball skills he can high point interception opportunities and has been extremely productive playing the ball. Can attack the catch point and has made some big hits reacting on throws in front of him. Has excellent recovery speed if beaten on a route. Tracks well coming downhill and makes a lot of tackles near the line. Has some trouble processing multiple routes and there is occasional hesitation on route combinations. Can be undisciplined and play a little out of control. Will overrun a play at times. Needs to focus on his coverage assignment as he has blown a coverage by vacating a zone to jump a route. More of a wrap and hang on tackler than gather and strike. Will occasionally take a bad angle and miss a tackle in space. Has the speed and athletic ability to be a playmaker for a team needing a traditional free safety.
