Ourlads' Profile:

2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about NICHOLAS PETIT-FRERE:

Ohio State, 6051 316 5.14. Junior entry, two-year starter, Tampa, FL. Transitioned to left tackle in 2021, finishing as a second-team All-America and earned first-team All-Big 10 honors. Was an elite, top-rated high school recruit at the tackle position coming out. Wide-bodied, twitchy athlete that has the physical ability and tools that are ideal for the position. Long arms and huge hands. Lower half is thick, but athletic. Explosive hips that can create violent and sustained contact on a defender in space. Does a nice job of staying upright throughout his true pass sets. Won’t open his hips too soon as he moves his way up the edge. Reaches his points in a hurry with his eyes up, ready to pounce. Will avoid a narrow set up and will play with a strong anchor. Stays aware of remaining wide and rangy with his base. Strong hands that can do serious damage when he is lined up. Has had success on both sides of the line. Needs much more attention to detail when it comes to immediate footwork and body positioning. Often late to get his head across when working his way down the line. Beat on the inside shoulder too often. Lacks urgency and grit. Too many stretches where he will play a soft game. Gives too much ground as a lateral run blocker. Plays with tight ankles and hips, often softening his initial blow and creating a sense of catch-up. Need to see a more consistent level of hand violence, attitude, and awareness. The body, athletic ability, and overall upside are enough to forecast a starting job in his future, however it may not be right away. There are a lot of inconsistencies in his game that need to be hammered out before he can be fully trusted. He carries tightness in his lower half that translates into poor initial movement, delayed reactions, and a lack of sustainable power. When he does have all his techniques lined up, he has shown flashes of being a dominant player. Boom or bust type that would be best suited as a backup early on.

OSR:30/51. Second/third round. (A-33 5/8, H-10 3/4, BP-DNP, 10-1.76).
