Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about CHAD MUMA:
Wyoming, 6030 239 4.63. Two-year starter, Lone Pine, CO. First-team All-Mountain West and a finalist for the Butkus Award. Excellent size and athletic ability for an inside linebacker. Instinctive player with a nose for the football. Solid inside run fits he gets downhill quickly and makes a lot of plays in-line. He will take an open window in a hurry. Flashes take-on ability with good hand usage and ability to shed on the move. Has sideline to sideline range and is tremendous at filling the alley. Moves extremely well laterally in chase mode. Has solid fundamental tackling skill squaring up and finishing tackles. Makes the adjustments in space and rarely misses. Is an efficient zone defender with ability to read the quarterback and multiple receivers in his drop. Excellent ball reactions, he finds the throwing lane and uses his length to get to the ball. Covers a lot of ground in coverage. Has made some incredible plays on the ball. Man coverage has been limited and not considered a real strength at this time. However, he did show man cover skill reasonably well at the Senior Bowl. Has some inconsistency chasing as he will get caught up in the wash at times working to the alley. He can get knocked off his path as he can get upright on blocks. Has some trouble gaining depth in zone pass drops. He can be too shallow and relies on leaping ability in the throwing lane. Not quite as good with the play right at him as he can get knocked upright by a physical blocker. That said he has the tools of an every down linebacker in the NFL. Some of the concerns over the level of competition were eased with his Senior Bowl performance.
