Montana State, 6034 243 4.41. Four-year starter, Dillon, MT. Versatile prospect with big play ability. He was the 2017 Freshman of the Year as a running back and outside linebacker. Switched to quarterback the next year and was all-conference. Relatively new to the position he has been a full-time linebacker since 2019 with some time as a sub package fullback. He could fill in as an H-back in the NFL. As a linebacker he has lined up both outside and inside in Montana State’s 4-2-5 defense. Excellent downhill reactions with a quick first step. Non-stop motor he has the range to chase all over the field. Has a burst as an inside and outside blitzer with the speed to close. Flashes take-on ability with strong hands and lower body power to separate from blocks. Does well working through blocks on the move. Wrap up and drive tackler he can be explosive. Solid agility to make plays in space. Has tools but coverage is a work in progress. Takes good drops in zone but is inconsistent. Shows some occasional hesitation closing voids and getting into the throwing lane. Somewhat slow to process pattern pressure. Struggles at times with route breaks in man coverage. Can be overaggressive and take himself out of gaps. Inside run fits need work moving forward. Needs to get more consistent using his hands to shed. Will miss a tackle at times and can play out of control. While there is inconsistency and holes in his play, his athletic ability and speed give him the chance to develop into a solid every down linebacker. A team that likes his upside and their ability to develop him could take a shot fairly early. Profile projects to outstanding special team play early in his career.
