Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about GEORGE PICKENS:
Georgia, 6032 195 4.43. Junior entry, one-year starter, Hoover, AL. Was on the field a lot in his first season but missed almost all of 2021 with a torn ACL. Put the nation on notice as a true freshman when he led the Bulldogs in catches, yards and touchdowns all by wide margins. While he has not taken it to the next level since, the tools and ball skills are worth an extra look. Has a lot of natural talent and easy movement about him. The suddenness combined with his size can create a lot both off the line and in contested situations. This is a competitive player with the NFL size and speed and plus ball skills. If his maturity can be polished, he has the ceiling of a first-rounder but there are several bullet points under the risk factor. Physical, tough, and strong player who complements his style well. Comfortable against contact whether he is fighting off press coverage or getting through traffic in pursuit of the ball. Excellent releases and initial separation coming from sudden burst and foot quicks. Will attack the ball with his hands and can make the late adjustments when needed. Shows elite coordination when tracking the pass and as he extends for it. Gets to the ball at the apex of his leap and reach. Can gear up or gear down with natural ease. Back and forth effort and grit. Shows some emotional immaturity on the field and has a team-suspension to boot. Does not have the upper tier explosion to pose as a threat to get over the top. Does not always play strong or slippery after the catch. Will play with high hips in and out of breaks.
2021 stats (4 games): 5-107, 21.4 ypr. OSR:18/33. Second/third round. (A-32 3/8, H-8 3/4, VJ-33, SS-DNP).
