Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about JAQUAN BRISKER:
Penn State, 6013 199 4.49. Two-year starter, Pittsburgh, PA. Transferred from Lackawanna College in 2019 after starting there for two years. Named to several All-America teams and was first-team All-Big 10 in 2021. Big, athletic and physical safety who plays one high and drops down to a box or strong safety position. Rarely out of position he does the job as the last line of defense. In deep coverage he normally reads route combinations and takes good angles to the ball. Has above average range and makes a lot of big hits on throws to the deep outside. While at strong safety he can match big receivers using his length to disrupt the release and ride a receiver on his turn and run. Matches route breaks and can stay in phase up the field. He’s been effective as a red zone defender covering and playing the run. Shows some linebacker-like instincts close to the line and has been used as an outside blitzer. Solid in run support he is quick to stack and shed blockers in the alley but bigger blockers can ride him out. He’s normally a secure wrap up tackler. He’s improved as a gather and strike tackler this past season and where he used to make shoestring tackles he’s now more likely to square up and finish. Could still do a more consistent job with gather. Has made some critical pass breaks but makes more tackles than plays on the ball. Needs to be more consistent breaking on the throw. He can get caught staring in the backfield losing focus on route combinations. Brisker is a solid two-way safety prospect that can make an impact early in his career.
