Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about CHRISTIAN WATSON:
North Dakota State, 6041 208 4.28. Three-year starter, Tampa, FL. Earned All-MVFC honors all three seasons, first-team in both 2020 and 2021. All-America recognition in his final year. He is the son of former NFL safety Tim Watson. The tall, long, and explosive receiver is dripping with tools that are enticing. Was a big play threat throughout his career at North Dakota State, averaging over 20 yards per catch. His ability to run, jump, and play with toughness can go a long way at the next level. He is making a significant jump in competition and overall athleticism; thus his adjustment curve will likely be steep. Needs to shore up some techniques as a pass catcher and route runner, but this short-term project should add a significant downfield threat to a vertical passing game. Poses as a scary downfield threat with an ideal blend of size, speed, and explosive traits. Plays with a competitive nature and it shows up in every aspect of the game. Tracks the ball over his shoulder without losing his center of gravity. Maintains his rate of movement when he catches the ball on the move. Shows the necessary urgency and suddenness off the line and coming out of his breaks. Quick to get his head around with his hands ready to pounce. Plays with a sense of stability stemming from a strong and powerful lower half. Was also a part of the running and return games. Will play with high hips in and out of breaks. Needs to show better techniques off the line and as a route runner. Too many drops on a limited amount of targets. Did not produce a lot after the catch. Does not always maintain solid positioning and presence in traffic.
2021 stats: 43-801, 18.6 ypr, 7 TD. OSR:1/33. Third/fourth round. (A-32 1/2, H-10 1/8, VJ-38.5, SS-4.19).
