Ourlads' Profile:

2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about ZION JOHNSON:

Boston College, 6026 312 5.18. Three-year starter, Bowie, MD. Transferred from Davidson College, where he started two years. First team All-ACC in 2021 and second team in 2019 as a guard, third team in 2020 as a left tackle. Projects inside at the next level after playing both tackle and guard throughout his career. Also saw some snaps at center during Senior Bowl week. The two-time team captain looks pro-ready across the board. His power that stems from an enormous lower body and long, thick arms with heavy hands will seamlessly handle NFL power right away. Technically sound and very smart when it comes to lateral awareness and adjustments. The blue-collar blocker does the little things right and it will cover up the slight natural athleticism issues he has. He should be a year one starter at any of the inside positions, preferably guard. A lower body made for life in the trenches. Huge bubble butt with thickness through his calves and down to his ankles. Has a powerlifter’s upper body. Long and strong arms with heavy hands. Wide frame that can play low to the ground because of solid ability to bend at the knees and ankles. Position versatility comes from a wide-ranging skill set. Choppy feet with good speed, elite hand striking, and natural ability to stay square. Keeps his eyes up when adjusting the direction of his hips. Does not over-commit to the initial read or movement. Always ready to adjust and does so naturally. Smart player with good lateral awareness. Wins the leverage battle and understands the validity behind “low man wins”. Baseline athletic ability is limited. Not the fastest to the edge as a lead blocker. Does not always reach across the eyes of a defender to his outside shoulder in a zone blocking scheme. Width of his lower body is inconsistent. Sometimes too narrow, causing a balance issue and sometimes too wide, losing out on ability to adjust. Needs to be quicker with secondary hand movement.

OSR:9/51. First/second round. (A-34, H-10 5/8, BP-32, 10-1.74).
