Ourlads' Profile:

2019 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about AJ BROWN: Mississippi, 6004 226 4.52. Junior entry and two year starter from Starksville, MS. First-team All SEC and third-team All- America. Drafted out of high school by the San Diego Padres and he has not completely thrown the idea out of pursuing professional baseball at some point. Not a traditional receiver by any means, he brings some extra size and strength to the position that can create major issues for defensive backs, in particular those that play the slot. His physical style and reliable hands to go with dangerous after-catch ability will be a tough match-up in the middle of the field. While his game may be limited when it comes to vertical speed and burst, his impact on short and intermediate routes will be a force with the right quarterback. Incredible strength and power for the position that can impact the game in several ways. Tough and sturdy in traffic. Hard to knock off his path as he plays with top tier balance, body control, and power. Can be a bully against defensive backs and maintains a tight end-type presence as a blocker in space. Late hands that will pluck the ball out of the air away from his body. Can locate and track naturally. A running back-type mentality and approach after the catch. Top-level anticipation and reaction to where defenders reside as he gets the ball. Eyes in the back of his head and shows immediate effort to get upfield. Will break through arm tackles consistently and shows great chains-awareness.The burst and long speed, especially as a vertical route runner, may not be enough for outside duty. Won’t get a lot of separation unless he can line up in the slot where he can begin with more space to work with. Didn’t create a vertical threat on his own very often. Gets a little-too dance happy with the ball in his hands. 2018 stats: 85-1320, 15.5 ypr, 6 TD. OSR:22/ 42. First/second round. (A-32 7/8, H-9 3/4, VJ-36.5, SS-DNP).
