Earned second-team All-Pac 12 honors in 2020, first-team in 2021 in addition to third-team All-America honors in his injury-shortened junior campaign. He fractured his ankle in USC’s eighth game of the season. Was the only receiver in the country to average 11 catches per contest and he finished second in the nation with 135.5 yards per game. The former Division I basketball player brings a combination of size, grace, and power presence to the table that can make him a threat in traffic at all times. Long and nimble frame with basketball-type suddenness and fluidity. Adjusts his weight with ease and it shows up as both a route runner and ball catcher. Sure, crisp footwork with a bendy lower half. Plays the body position game well. Will box out the defender while also coming back to the ball aggressively. An inviting target for the passer. Shows his numbers on comeback routes with his arms out and hands forward. Maintains a high level of grace and smoothness when adjusting his body around the action to get to the ball. High success rate in 50/50 situations. Uses that craftiness at the point of attack. High-success rate as an underneath route runner. Physical, impactful blocker. Knows how and when to pick up the extra yards after the catch. Plays big but slippery at the same time. Will take advantage of small creases. There have been some maddening inconsistencies in his game as a ball catcher, however. He allowed too many balls to bounce off his hands and hit the turf. Considering he also lacks the final gear to separate downfield, his ceiling falls short of a true number one threat. He can be an asset short, intermediate, and in the red zone but don’t bank on him being a top dog. Does not have the next gear to separate downfield. Will often have his cushion eaten up beyond the intermediate portion of the route tree. Explosion and burst, both as a runner and leaper, do not stand out. Inconsistent ball skills and concentration with defenders bearing down on him. Lets too many balls hit his hands and fall to the ground. Will have a hard time creating space via movement ability at the next level. A lot of his production came on simple, short passes.
