Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about JERMAINE JOHNSON:
Florida State, 6045 254 4.58. One-year starter, Eden Prairie, MN. Was part of the rotation for two seasons at Georgia where he transferred after being the top junior college recruit. Was the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and second team All-America last fall. He finally received a full slate of snaps in his final year where he took his stock to another level. He is a true alpha male in the trenches that can beat guys up at the point of attack, finish off the ball carrier with nastiness, and rush the passer from multiple angles. Plays a strong game and when using his hands correctly, can easily dictate where a blocker ends up. Lacks some of the ideal juice as a pure edge rusher and there is some tightness in his hips, but he brings both a high floor and ceiling to the table. He is a safe pick who could evolve into a big-time edge player. Possesses a unique blend of length, power, and bend to consistently win the battle post-engagement. Stuns a blocker with his block-hands while remaining at a good pad level. Plays under the pads of his opponents, ready to pounce in any and all directions at any given moment. A nasty predator who finds another gear when he is within striking distance of his prey. Closes fast and makes sure his target knows who hit him. A violent tackler. Shows the ability to rush both the inside and outside shoulders with equal effectiveness. An elite run defender who sets the edge and can toss away a blocker like a rag doll. Pursues with anger in his steps and plays through the whistle. Upfield burst as a pure edge rusher won’t put a blocker on his heels. Has some tightness in his hips that shows up when he needs to pivot and adjust. Hands are late at times and does not have enough wiggle to shake free from an initial disadvantage. Will forecast his rush moves at times.
