Most often on the edge of defense in a two-point stance. Spent some time backed off inside and as a hand-on-the-ground edge rusher. Quick at the snap shooting his hands to gain separation from a blocker. Has shed ability but could be more violent with his strike and shed as he is occasionally hung up on a block. Does a good job riding an edge blocker and is tough to get around. Usually very good using his length to set the edge and come off the block and get in on the play. Good lateral movement and change of direction for his size. Long strider in pursuit covering a lot of ground. Takes proper angles in pursuit and gets in on a lot of plays. Solid tackling skill using his length to wrap up ball carriers. Not often used in coverage but shows ability to cover the flat in match-up situations. Chases well with the ball in the air. Has tools to be a standout edge pass rusher. Uses hands to keep blocker away from him and can get around the corner and bend to the quarterback. A little slow to use technique as he is not always quick with his hands getting into any kind of a move. Has an effective arm under move. He has improved each year in college but is still in a developmental mode. Projects well as a 3-4 outside linebacker/edge rusher. Has the frame to gain more weight to play the run at him. 2017 stats: 61 T, 7.5 TFL, 4.5 sacks, 9 QBH, 3 FF, 1 BK. OSR:1/17. Second/third round. (A-34, H- 10 3/8, BP-DNP, SS-DNP).
