Ourlads' Profile:
2015 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about JORDAN PHILLIPS: Oklahoma, 6052 329 5.16. Fourth year sophomore entry from Towanda, KS. Red-shirt in 2011 and a medical red-shirt in 2013. Limited experience but has the upside of a dominant inside force. Phillips demands the attention of multiple blockers every play. His combination of size, strength, and quickness off the ball consistently creates havoc. He is a space eater inside that is rarely pushed back by the double team. Can shorten a pocket when a blocker is left alone to pass block him. Phillips can be an immediate force inside at the next level as long as he physically holds up. Massive presence. Tall, long, and functionally thick. Quick out of his stance and makes the offensive line react to him. Can get his hands on the blocker and control the engagement. Quickness to either side, moves well laterally. Hard hitter, can forcefully drive a ball carrier in to the ground. Has such a wide reach, can close a hole fast. Gets off blocks with sheer power or quickness. Consistently pulls and jerks offensive linemen out of the way. Elite strength from his base. Can anchor his position against double teams without giving up any ground. High effort player, consistent engine. Can press the pocket, bull rushes his way to the quarterback. Limited athlete in space. Does not pursue well to the outside. Ball carriers can outrun his angles. Will play high out of his stance, exposing his numbers to the blockers. Lacks an array of refined pass rush moves. A two down player who doesn’t have an explosive element to his game. Back injury ended his 2013 season after 4 games. 2014 stats: 38 T, 7 TFL, 2 sacks. Edge speed:left 2.50, right 2.37. OSR:9/20. Second/ third round. (A-34 3/4, H-9 3/8, BP-28, 10-1.83).
