Ourlads' Profile:
2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about ROYCE NEWMAN: Mississippi, 6051 306 5.15. Two-year starter, Nashville, IL. Spent a season at guard and one at tackle. Doesn’t appear to have the length or foot speed for the outside. Gives up too much pressure on his outside shoulder and struggles to get the long arm position. Better suited for guard where he can use his ability to play low and strong with limited space windows for defenders around him to use. Has a lot of natural knee bend and shows the ability to stay square with his hands attached. Needs time to bulk up and add more power and size to his lower body. Projects as a backup at the next level. Works hard to get inside hand position. Accurate and coordinated with his hand placement. Will keep the feet moving after engagement. Can pull out into space and get on players at the second level. Effective space blocker. Smart, blue collar attitude. Gets beat on his outside shoulder too often. Doesn’t slide his feet effectively. Tries to overextend and just doesn’t have the necessary length or power to make that approach work. Needs to translate his athleticism into more of a mirror approach. Doesn’t always punch, absorbs too much of the blow. Needs power to maintain ground against pro bull rushers. Thin lower half. Seventh round/PFA. (A-32 1/4, H-8 3/4, BP-23, 10-1.75).
