Ourlads' Profile:
2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about D'ANTE SMITH: East Carolina, 6053 294 5.33. Four-year starter, Augusta, GA. Barely played in 2020 because of an undisclosed injury. Honorable Mention All AAC in 2019. An undersized but athletic blocker who shows foot speed and twitch. He moves at a different level of speed and quickness off the ball. When he maintains his balance and technique, he looks like a pro. He may be best suited for guard in the NFL, as he doesn’t look comfortable in sustained pass protection in space. Needs to get stronger and play with a more consistent level of balance and control. Twitchy and light footed. Naturally athletic and flexible. Plays with a low pad level while maintaining a strong lockout. Long arms and an unusually wide frame. Unique high cut body type. Can move his hands and feet like a boxer. Moves laterally out of his stance in a blink, will cover across multiple gaps with ease. Can convert his speed and quickness into power. Will deliver a solid initial pop on contact and has more than enough athletic ability to swing his hips into the hole with active feet. Still a long distance away from having enough power and sheer strength for the NFL trenches. Gets uprooted too often. Too often over-lunges for his target, leaving him overly vulnerable to double moves. Will need time to get his base level strength up and refine his footwork. Needs more punch, more violence off the snap. Sixth/seventh round. (A-35 1/4, H-10, BP-24, 10-1.83).
