Ourlads' Profile:
2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about IFEATU MELIFONWU: Syracuse, 6025 212 4.50. Junior entry, two year starter, South Grafton, MA. Has outstanding length and physical attributes for a corner. He has improved over his two years as a starter into a quality NFL prospect. Has played a lot of outside zone coverage primarily in quarters and Cover 3. Also has experience as a press man corner. Gives a lot of room in off coverage but is sudden in his plant and drive with the ball in the air on quick routes. Secure physical tackler after the catch he rarely gives up yards after contact. In outside zone coverage mostly matched the outside receiver but he flashed ability to close voids and react to multiple routes. Maintains cushion and can turn and run to stay in phase on most vertical routes. Length helps if in recovery mode playing from behind. As a press corner uses his length to disrupt at the line with an off-hand jam along with excellent mirror ability. Sticky in man coverage he can undercut route breaks and use his long arms to get inside to the catch point. Rarely gives up leverage. Has been productive getting his hands on a lot of balls. In run support uses his length to take on stalk blocks with a quick stab and shed. Solid gather and finish on tackles showing some explosiveness finishing. The quarters scheme he played in emphasized matching outside receivers so he still needs to develop balancing multiple routes in various coverage. He did flash skill in that area at the Senior Bowl. He occasionally gets in recovery mode after sneaking a peak at the quarterback on an extended route. Has been beaten deep as a result so speed will have to be evaluated. His skill set could project to safety. 2020 stats: 55 T, 3 TFL, 1 sack, 9 PBU, 1 INT. Second/third round. (A-32 1/8, H-9, VJ-41.5, SS-4.36).
