Ourlads' Profile:

2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about NICO COLLINS: Michigan, 6042 215 4.45. Two-year starter, Birmingham, AL. Opted out of the 2020 season. Honorable Mention All-Big 10 in both 2018 and 2019. A big play threat for the Wolverines who averaged 16.6 yards per catch in 2018 and conference-leading 19.7 in 2019, a season in which the team awarded him Offensive MVP honors. The one statistical draw back? He averaged just three catches per contest over that two-year span. He is one of the bigger and more physical receivers in this class. His height, wingspan, and strength presence make him a very difficult one on one matchup. This is the kind of receiver who can be open no matter where the cornerback is. He understands body positioning like a basketball player. The deep speed is there but the short area turn and burst is not, thus a reason why he just doesn’t make enough impact play to play. He will need a specific role at the next level and there will be stretches where he disappears and/or won’t be a factor, but he can be a missing piece to a passing offense that needs that big downfield threat. Credible and real size, power, and strength. Size is an advantage but even more so is the ability to position himself and box out others. Aggressive snatch of the ball when it is within his radius. Elite length and strong hands. Solid build up speed that can maintain vertical distance from a defensive back. Long strider that looks smooth and easy when tracking the deep ball. Can stop on a dime and come back to the football. A load to take down for tacklers. Will run through arm tackles or cheap attempts by defensive backs. Will labor in his release. Needs space and time to really get going. Stands up a bit too tall in and out of breaks. Simply needs to get better off the snap. Needs to get more consistent and create more play to play. 2019 stats: 37-729, 19.7 ypr, 7 TD. Second/third round. (A-32 1/2, H-9 3/8, VJ-37.5, SS-4.32).
