Played from a two point stance in a wide alignment for the most part. Solid initial movement with strong hands to take on blocks. Plays with knee bend attacking blocker and flashes shed ability on the move. Can be violent with a push pull move. Above average agility he moves well laterally to set the edge or sift inside to make plays on inside runs. Fundamentally sound tackling skill. He gathers, wraps and finishes. Has a good tackle radius and can make plays in space. As a pass rusher he is quick at the snap and bends the corner with speed and fluid adjustments to quarterbacks movement in the pocket. Flashes a variety of moves including an inside counter on a wide setting tackle. Uses long arms well to separate from the blocker. Has been effective on inside stunts. Flashes pass cover ability in limited reps dropping in coverage. Shows quick reactions in the throwing lane. Should be able to develop into a solid zone defender. Extended chase speed is questionable, does not make a lot of plays across the field. More quick than fast as he doesn’t close consistently as the play is extended. At times gets hung up on a block after a solid strike. Inconsistent with shed as there are times he gets tied up. In many ways he is a classic tweener as speed isn’t ideal for a linebacker and he lacks the bulk of someone who will play a five technique.
