Ourlads' Profile:
2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about JOE TRYON: Washington, 6050 262 4.68. Junior entry, one-plus year starter, Renton, WA. Took over the edge role at the end of 2018 and stayed there in 2019, where he earned second-team All Pac 12 honors. Opted out of the 2020 season. He is a physical freak that wears the pads well. More than just an athlete. His engine is always on and will make plays away from the point of attack routinely. Matches that physical ability and power with attitude. Has a nastiness that will immediately elevate the presence of a defense. At his size and speed, he will be intriguing to defenses that like to move their plays around. He is comfortable dropping back into coverage, he is comfortable in space, and he can defend the run in addition to being a potential menace as an edge rusher. The upside is enormous here but there are concerns over his lack of experience (14 career starts) and he has a long way to go when it comes to developing pro-caliber techniques and rush-versatility. Powerful and fast. Creates elite force and pop with his ability to explode and burst. Cut from stone with minimal bad weight. Will pursue the action from afar with bad intentions and knows how to seal the deal. Will wrap his arms around the ball carrier like a hungry tiger going for the final kill. Natural player when he drops back into coverage. Will be usable in multiple roles. Still has a ways to go when it comes to his hand usage and rush moves. Too reliant on straight line burst, top end speed, and power. Gets too emotional and aggressive and will lack gap discipline on the outside. Gets fooled by counters and fakes. Can’t trust his eyes yet. 2019 stats: 41 T, 12.5 TFL, 8 sacks, 1 PBU, 1 QBH. Third/fourth round. (A-34, H-10 1/4, BP-22, 10-1.64).
