Ourlads' Profile:
2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about RASHAWN SLATER: Northwestern, 6042 304 4.91. Three-year starter, Sugar Land, TX. Opted out of the 2020 season. Honorable Mention All-Big 10 in 2019, third-team in 2018. His father, Reginald, played eight years in the NBA. He does not fit the prototypical profile for tackles in the NFL. He is shorter than ideal and an arm length issue (33”) that didn’t always get exposed in college. May be best suited to make the move to guard like Zack Martin did coming out of Notre Dame when he was drafted by Dallas. No matter where he plays, he will be ready for a starting role early on in his career. Technically sound, plays smart, and has the athletic ability to handle the speed of the NFL right away. Has top shelf hand and foot speed. Can lock onto any kind of defender and at the very least, slow him down. There are some issues that pop up when needing to move toward his inside shoulder, but he has the ability to recover. Could use a stronger anchor position but remember, his tape is from 2019. It is safe to assume he will be stronger next time he steps foot on the field. Wherever he ends up playing, he has the look of a long-term solution in a zone-scheme. Technically sound with the hand strength of a boxer. Coordinated and accurate with his punch. Hits his target and immediately locks on. When he wins the initial position battle, he rarely lets go. Plus lateral athleticism out of his stance. Reaches angles that others simply cannot. Gets his head across his target as a blocker and will remain in position, stemming from elite balance and control. Peels off linemen to the second level with ease. A dominant run blocker in space with the speed and agility to hang with linebackers. Protects the outside edge in pass protection consistently. Understands angles and spacing. Will hide his arm length shortcoming with proper, flawless techniques. A strong finisher that will stay on his man through the whistle. Plays with some nasty attitude. Too often gets beat to his inside shoulder. Will over set to the outside and struggle to get back in position inside. Loses his knee bend and center of gravity. Won’t always get a downhill push in the running game. First round. (A-33, H-10 1/2, BP-33, 10-1.68).
