Ourlads' Profile:

2017 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about DUKE RILEY: LSU, 6005 231 4.60. One-year starter from Buras, LA. Led the Tigers with 93 total tackles. Played in 50 total games over his career and was a major stalwart on special teams. Undersized but plays with a lot of energy. Plays inside and on the edge. Versus double slot formations was often used as a Will, splitting the difference between a slot and an offensive tackle. Normally good read and react. Has the ability to read slot and inside gaps. Quick downhill shuffle with normally good fits at inside gaps. Can get downhill quickly and make plays in the backfield with a clean read. Occasionally gets too far up field and gets on the wrong side of a block. Needs consistent steps with read and react to be successful. Can get washed out by a block if not right with his read. Struggles to redirect inline if out of position. Attacks blocks with his hand. Will get locked up by a physical blocker at times. Occasionally goes under a block causing a bad angle. Adequate change of direction in space. Good range in pursuit, can make plays on the edge. Solid tackling skills with normally good finish. Has good cover skills. Takes good drops and sees the quarterback and receivers. Closes well on the throw. Has match-up skill and can stay with a back on a vertical route. Good blitz ability, can get in gaps and close. Had one year starting experience and improved during his senior season. He peaked with an outstanding performance at the Senior Bowl. Has some inconsistency but has good upside and the potential to be an every-down linebacker. Undersized but fits well as a Will in most schemes. Has good potential in coverage and may find a role as a cover linebacker. Senior Bowl notes: A good athlete who lacks ideal size. Quick to read and react. Instinctive. A downhill player who can adjust on the move. Quick change of direction. Plays with good knee bend when attacking blockers. A good technique player who uses his hands well. A quick twitch player who takes good drops and has range in zone coverage. 2016 stats: 93 T, 9 TFL, 1.5 sacks, 1 PBU, 3 QBH, 1 INT. Edge speed:left 1.76, right DNP. OSR:9/51. Second/third round. (A-30 7/8, H-9 1/2, BP-18, SS-4.24).
