Ourlads' Profile:

2016 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about JOE THUNEY: North Carolina State, 6045 304 4.99. Three-year starter from Centerville, OH. A versatile 5-for-1 player who has experience and can contribute at any position along the offensive line. Played right guard in the East-West Shrine game after playing left tackle for the Wolfpack. Solid on reach and fold blocks. Plays with good knee bend. A competitor who can anchor a bull rush. A technique sound lineman who plays square in pass protection. Good redirect quickness. Head on a swivel to help teammates when needed. Good technique on down block to pin the defensive tackle. A long-torso athlete (rated 4th out of 47 offensive linemen athletically at the Combine) with foot quickness and change of direction. Adjusts well in space blocking on the second level or out at tackle. Good body control and balance recovery. Good playing strength. Sets quickly in pass pro. Has quick feet and mirrored slide shuffle. Not a waist bender. Thuney did a good job blocking and anchoring against Shaq Lawson in the Clemson game. He gave up zero sacks in 2015 as a left tackle. He was the first Wolfpack to be named a first-team All-SEC lineman since 2003 and was named to the first-team USA Today All- America team. He graduated cum laude with a BS in accounting after three years and is in graduate school studying international studies. Has been a regular over his career on the Dean’s list, Academic All-ACC, and the ACC Academic Honor Roll. He was also a semi-finalist for the National Football Foundation’s Campbell Trophy. OSR:4/47. Third/ fourth round. (A-32 1/4, H-9 5/8, BP-28, 10-1.71).
