Ourlads' Profile:
2020 Guide: What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about JAMES SMITH-WILLIAMS: North Carolina State, 6034 265 4.61. Two-year starter, Raleigh, NC. Both his 2015 and 2016 seasons ended with injury. Last season was disrupted by injury as well, missing five of 12 games. Has caught the attention of coaches and scouts alike because of his tool set. He has a long and wide, moldable frame with elite speed for the position. Many will look at him as a ball of clay that will need a year-plus to work with before he can be a factor on the roster. He did flash over his career but he also missed a lot of games with multiple injuries. He is incredibly smart and hard working, so if things go his way and he can stay on the field for an extended period of time, there is something to build from. Excellent straight line burst and overall speed. Plus strength that translates to heavy hands in the trenches. Flashes dominant traits when he has his balance with an array of rush moves. Can make up for lost time with his acceleration in space. Will play hard and catch the action from behind. Has experience rushing the passer from different angles. Doesn’t play with a low center of gravity, his knee bend seems unnatural and forced. Not a natural reaction player, fails to make efficient and timely reads. Gets caught out of position. 2019 stats: 20 T, 1 TFL, 1 sack, 7 QBH. OSR:4/25. Fifth/sixth round. (A-34, H-9 3/8, BP-28, 10-1.63).
