Put himself onto the national radar as a sophomore in 2017 with 69 tackles and 8.5 sacks. The tool set, as we are used to seeing from the Alabama program, was elite. He was wreaking havoc with his combination of hustle, length, and speed. Fast forward two years and he hasn’t been able to match that production, most notably as a pass rusher. There is still a sense of rawness to his game and one can rightfully question how well he can perform week to week. The inconsistencies can be maddening at times but he still flashes dominant traits. Can be a solid starter or rotational player. Freakishly long arms and speed for the position. Will almost always be the tallest and longest player on the field. Plays with solid knee bend despite his height. Can catch the action from behind and will bring extra force on contact. Can line up in a variety of spots and make an impact. A hustler, try-hard player. Doesn’t impact the game play to play against the pass. Pass rush will be nonexistent for stretches. Can get slow and choppy, plays tight laterally. Footwork is inconsistent from a technique perspective. Will stand too tall when having to move left or right. Doesn’t bat balls down at the line, doesn’t create turnovers. Production doesn’t line up with his talent. 2019 stats: 47 T, 3 TFL, .5 sack, 5 QBH. Edge speed:left 2.32, right 2.33. OSR:24/25. Second/third round. (A-33 7/8, H-11, BP-24, 10-1.78).
