Ourlads' Profile:

2020 Guide: What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about YETUR GROSS-MATOS: Penn State, 6050 266 4.75. Junior entry, two-year starter, Spotsylvania, VA. When it comes to long term upside and tools, Gross-Matos can be considered one of the top defenders in the entire class. Has the height, length, and speed combination that is considered rare. Don’t make the mistake of labeling him just an upside player, however. He recorded 35 TFL and 17.5 sacks over his two seasons as a starter and has more than enough tape to prove he can get the job done early in his career. There are issues with his game, most notably when it comes to power and inside run defense, but he has a top shelf toolbox that may just need some time and strength development before being an every-down player. Possesses the ideal body of today’s edge rusher with room to add bulk. Long and bendy. Plays with a low pad level and more than enough flexibility from his ankles and knees. Thick lower half, bubble butt, and big calves. Capable of twisting and turning to avoid a blocker’s punch while maintaining his path to the target. Top tier speed for the position. Long strider that looks like a gazelle in space. Pursues the ball well and will play through the whistle. Has the jump cut of a running back. Unique and rare movement and bend when rushing the edge. Has the tool set to work with and develop that doesn’t come around often. Does not play with a killer’s instinct or mentality. Gets too passive at times. Needs to develop his power game, especially hand and upper body strength. Doesn’t attack the blocker’s chest, plays too soft. Will disappear in a crowd against the run. Inconsistent get off, seems late to react to the action. Focus isn’t always there. 2019 stats: 40 T, 15 TFL, 9.5 sacks. 7 QBH. Edge speed:left 2.44, right 2.22. First/ second round. (A-34 7/8, H-9 3/4, BP-20, 10-DNP).
