Ourlads' Profile:
2019 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about JEFFERY SIMMONS: Mississippi State, 6036 301 4.98. Junior entry and two year starter from Macon, MS. Second-team All-America and two-time first team All-SEC. One of the top athletes among interior defensive linemen. Disruptive cat-like lateral quickness. Good effort throughout the game. Pursues to the perimeter. Has the strength and leverage to push the pocket. Rotates so he is always fresh. Stones an unsuspecting ball carrier coming through the line. When he is asked to fire a gap, he does so with explosiveness and gusto. Has big strong hands and long arms to control the action from tackle to tackle. He locks out with a long straight arm to keep blockers off his frame. Can split and stack a double team. Uses a variety of moves and counters to get to the quarterback including a violent rip move. Can play any position across the defensive front. Has the ability to explode and unlock his hips with force. Plays with a power base and lower body strength with knee bend and leverage. Stout inline play strength that is necessary to collapse the run. He demonstrates good flexibility. Gets his long arms up in the throwing lane if stuck on the line of scrimmage. Quick to read and react. Better as a one gap rather than a two gap player. Tore a left knee ACL when working out for his pro day in February. May go on the PUP list in the fall. Had an off-field issue in high school but has reportedly been a model citizen ever since. 2018 stats: 63 T, 17 TFL, 2 sacks, 4 PBU, 7 QBH, 1 FF. Not invited to Combine. First/ second round. (A-34 1/2, H-10 1/4, BP-28, 10-DNP).
