Ourlads' Profile:

2019 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about ED OLIVER: Houston, 6017 287 4.73. Junior entry and three year starter from Houston, TX. The only three-time All American in school history. Chose Houston over top tier programs out of high school. An ultra-productive player who has been one of the most explosive, dangerous defensive linemen in the country since he stepped on the field. Elite, rare-level speed and quickness for the position that can impact the game in ways that very few can at any defensive position. An ideal 3-technique from a speed and burst perspective that will need to improve his staying-power and stay-at-home defense so he isn’t a one-trick pony. Elite ceiling but carries plenty of risk as well. Stout frame with more than enough lower body thickness. Huge calves and a strong bubble butt. Has the twitch and movement ability of a linebacker. Top tier speed, quickness, and agility for the position. Can turn and run with the best. High effort player who will pursue the action sideline to sideline. Has the range to reach all the action, all the time. Can turn his speed and explosion into power. Delivers a violent blow upon contact when he has space to work with. Knows how to finish when he gets to the ball carrier. A violent wrap up tackler who can adjust and react last second. Excellent body control and short area burst. Gets out of bed in the morning performing the club-under rush move. Can shift his body and make himself small to blockers. A terror in one-on-one match-ups. Smaller than ideal for the NFL trenches. Lacks reach and will often get locked up by a bigger, more powerful blocker. Too dependent on the initial advantage. Needs to improve his secondary rush moves and backup plans. Too often neutralized and locked up by the double team. Can be controlled in the running game. Has a little too much “hit-or-miss” in his game. Will have stretches of games where he is a non-factor. Suffered a knee injury during 2018 that kept him out for 4+ games. 2018 stats: 54 T, 14.5 TFL, 3 sacks, 2 PBU, 9 QBH, 1 FF. Medical exclusion at Combine, hamstring. First round. (A-31 3/4, H-9 1/4, BP-32, 10-DNP).
