Ourlads' Profile:
2018 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about JEROME BAKER: Ohio State, 6011 229 4.54. Junior entry and two-year starter from Cleveland, OH. Played both in and out of the box. At his best lined up outside and back where he can play in space and chase. Fluid in movements with sudden change of direction. Reactive rather than downhill in his read with fast flow to the ball. Shows good lateral quickness and good range in pursuit. At his best with the play moving outside. Avoids blocks well in space and normally takes the right path to the ball. Plays well on the backside with the speed to chase plays across the field. Handles the cutback and maintains leverage on a ball carrier. Takes good pass drops and normally reads the quarterback and receivers well. Sees the underneath crossing route and can break on the throw. Shows quickness breaking on passes in front of him. Excellent match-up skill on a back out of the backfield. Mirrors routes with no wasted movement. Has the speed to cover up the field. Shows blitz skill with quickness at the snap but if blocked usually stays blocked. Good fundamental tackling skill but does not always bring it and will lunge at times. Inside run fits are inconsistent and he lacks take-on ability. Lacks a violent punch with his hands to take on blocks and is easily neutralized inline. Will overrun the alley on occasion pursuing from the inside. Sometimes slow to get underneath intermediate routes in zone. Will focus too much on a shallow cross. He may not have the physicality to be an every-down linebacker, but he projects as a 4-3 Will. He has sub-package potential due to his quickness and cover skill. Teams will have to decide if he can play every down. Has special teams’ potential. 2017 stats: 72 T, 8 TFL, 3.5 sacks, 3 PBU, 2 QBH, 1 FF, 2 FR (1 TD). Edge speed:left 1.76, right 1.83. OSR:8/ 22. Fourth/fifth round. (A-31 1/2, H-10 3/8, BP-22, SS-DNP).
