Ourlads' Profile:

2018 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about BRADEN SMITH: Auburn, 6062 315 5.21. Four-year starter from Olathe, KS. After being the most recruited guard in the nation out of high school, Smith went on to a successful four year career for Auburn that saw him finish as a 2017 All- America. Over his career, he has played both guard spots and has seen snaps at tackle as well. With his versatile skill set and the body that can handle both roles, the hybrid inside/outside blocker could project anywhere. While the Auburn blocking scheme isn’t exactly ideal for NFL preparation, the traits Smith carries are capable of fitting into any scheme and almost any role. His footwork and hand techniques are top notch for a player coming out of college. Always has inside position with his feet active and legs driving. Balance and body control are always there. On multiple occasions each week he showed the ability to get under defenders much bigger and more powerful than him. His knee bend comes easy, and the attention to detail on mechanics has allowed things to become so natural to him. Can easily slide his feet against lateral movers while maintaining his upright torso and strong hands inside. Pulls out of his stance quickly and is sure of himself when looking for defenders to block in space. He can get into trouble against straight up bull rushers. Doesn’t always anchor his position on deep drop backs, and that is one thing he simply didn’t have to do often at Auburn. Will need to develop more core strength. Has the proven game tape and overall physical upside to warrant an early pick. He is a safe prospect with Pro Bowl upside. OSR:3/38. Second/third round. (A-32 1/4, H-9 3/8, BP-35, 10-1.79).
