Began his career at Alabama but after a year of being in the Nick Saban doghouse and looking up the depth chart at current NFL running backs Derrick Henry and Kenyan Drake, Kamara opted to transfer. Quicker than fast back who has good body control and agility in traffic. Can change speeds without slowing down. Named a 2016 team captain. Good running skills with quick reactions. Was never the bell cow, playing behind Jalen Hurt at Tennessee, until Hurd quit. A smooth athlete who looks natural running the ball. Ran through a lot of tackles versus Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Georgia. Takes advantage of big holes by bursting through the Vol line. Ran a 4.53 electronic time at the Combine, but also ran an electronic 4.64. Three of his times were in the 4.6 range. The versatile back can line up anywhere on offense. Has wide receiver caliber hands and route running ability. Needs to improve his leg drive and become more of a north/south runner. Not a patient runner but tough to tackle in space. Has had past medical issues and surgeries. In his two seasons on the field with the Vols, he displayed excellent ability in space as a rusher and receiver. He has some of the best hands in the class at the position and his easy moving lower body and burst at 215+ pounds will attract teams looking for a third down back.
