Ourlads' Profile:

2017 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about MYLES GARRETT: Texas A&M, 6044 272 4.67. Junior entry from Arlington, TX. Three-year starter who lined up at right defensive end. Unanimous All-America and three time first-team All-SEC selection. Finished seventh in the SEC for career sacks with 32.5. He also tacked on 48.5 tackles for loss in 36 games played. Has first step suddenness to gain an advantage upfield or to get penetration. He reacts on the snap movement. He unlocks his hips with force and explodes up the field. Plays with a good power base and lower strength with knee bend and leverage to hold the point in the run game. Excellent balance and body control to execute various fundamentals required to excel at defensive end. Controls his opponent with his long arms and heavy hands. Brings energy to the defense. A game changer who dominates with his elite combination of speed, quickness, and hand strength. He can rag doll huge offensive tackles. Gets his hands up once he sheds the initial block, then has a burst to the quarterback or ball carrier. Agile enough to skip over cut blocks. Contain-conscious controlling a back when he is in pass rush mode. No holdup, he separates quickly from a blocker. Showed improved hand use in 2016. Has a variety of skills in his tool box to bring misery to an opposing quarterback. Garrett has a natural ability to string moves together. He will double move, rip, arm over, and spin his way to the quarterback. Can leverage and bull rush a left tackle back into the quarterback. Nobody turns speed to power better after he shoots off the edge. Unfortunately for the blocker, he also has recovery quickness to get out of a block or hold. Virtually impossible to block one-on-one. Never with just a tight end. He fights through the pressure of double teams and chip blocks. A disruptor who pressures the pocket. Plays within the confines of the defensive scheme. Checks backs on release or reverses. But he will freelance at times. Tracks the football and can outrun backs to the sideline. He must be game-planned for. Some teams simply run or pass in the other direction. A nightmare matchup when he moves inside over a guard or plays on the edge of a blocker. He crosses their face and is up the field quicker than a chicken on a June bug and blows up the mesh point in the running game. He will finish a long developing play, although in 2016 he picked his spots because of the lower leg injury. He did miss a pair of games with injury, but played through pain the last half of the season. Initially called the next Von Miller but will likely finish the grading process regarded higher. If you manufactured an edge defender in a factory it would look and move like Garrett. His tool set is matched with a developed skill set that led to a combined 81 negative yardage plays over his three-year career. Garrett is widely considered the top prospect in this class and will be a high impact edge defender day one. 2016 stats: 33 T, 15 TFL, 8.5 sacks, 1 PBU, 10 QBH, 2 FF, 1 BK. Edge speed:left 1.97, right 2.01. OSR:1/40. Top 5 pick. (A-35 1/4, H-10 1/4, BP-33, 10-1.62).
