Ourlads' Profile:

2016 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about STERLING SHEPARD: Oklahoma, 5102 194 4.43. Three-year starter from Oklahoma City, OK. Collected numerous All-America and Big-12 honors in 2015. Played in 50 games over his four year career for the Sooners catching 233 passes good for 3482 yards and 26 touchdowns, averaging 14.9 yards per catch. Son of former late OU great Derrick Shepard. Plays 67% of the plays in the slot and 31% on the right side. He plays both on and off the line of scrimmage. Of the top receivers in this draft, only Pharoh Cooper of South Carolina played more snaps than Shepard in the slot. He ran 212 routes and was targeted 32.1% of the time. Shepard only dropped 4.4% of his targeted throws, one of the lowest drop rates in the country. A competitive hard-nosed receiver who has NFL hands and ball skills. Never satisfied. Strives to be better every day by working on his craft. A good broken field runner. Makes you miss. Electric off the line of scrimmage. Quick and fast enough to run himself open. Plays big in traffic, sharp cuts in and out of his break. Excellent body control to attack the ball. Will also contribute as a punt return specialist. The quick-as-a-hiccup receiver succeeded 82.8% of the time versus man coverage and had an unbelievable 91.1% success rate against press coverage. He succeeded 80.2% of the time versus zone coverage. He simply knows how and works to get open. Senior Bowl notes: A small but shifty slot type receiver. Does a good job of creating separation. A natural hand catcher. Tools make him hard to cover in space. Smooth in and out of his cuts. Attacks leverage and the cushion. Was voted the wide receivers’ practice player of the week at the Senior Bowl. 2015 stats: 86- 1288, 14.9 ypr, 11 TD, 19-148 punt returns, 7.7 yards per return. OSR:11/42. Second round. (A-30 3/8, H-9 3/4, VJ-41, SS-4.35).
