Ourlads' Profile:

2016 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about JOEY BOSA: Ohio State, 6052 269 4.86. Junior entry from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Three-year starter who played in 41 games, starting 37. Two-time Big-10 Defensive Lineman of the Year. Arguably one of the best defenders in Ohio State history. The NFL has had Bosa in their radar since his freshman year where he exploded on the field as a disruptive presence who always had to be game planned for. In three years he collected 150 tackles, 50.5 tackles for loss, 26 sacks, and five forced fumbles. This past fall more protections were slid Bosa’s way and backs would also come and chip him. His production was down from the year before, but his teammates collected more tackles. Demonstrates excellent quickness from stance to opponent. His hand quickness for a college player is NFL ready, flashing a quick punch, stab, hand placement, extension, and the ability to control the blocker with his big strong hands and long arms. Gains an advantage by anticipating the count (getting more penalties than he should). Explodes into the blocker. Over the past three years he’s shown everything that you want in a future Pro Bowl NFL talent - quick to break on the ball down the field, drops into coverage, extreme hand use, rip, arm over and spin moves, can turn speed to quickness to power, can cross a tackle’s face in a split second. He is a talent who can affect the quarterback and the game. Has a strong bull, leverage rush then releases and flattens down inside to make a tackle on an inside run. Can read the blockers and has top level feel and instincts. Plays with a low pad level and leverage. Finishes the play with intensity. Has a full bag of pass rush power tools. He accelerates off of blocks with his upfield quickness, then has a burst to the quarterback or back. A disruptive player. Bosa has questionable body control in space at times and can be caught off balance. His effort is either inconsistent or he is bored from not being challenged. He was suspended the first game in 2015 for violation of team rules. He is not a super dynamic athlete, but his football intelligence, power presence, and versatility are NFL ready. Bottom line - he is a big time competitor who has dominated the edge of the Buckeye defense for three years. He can play any place across the front of any scheme and will also be a handful as a nose tackle in a nickel package. 2015 stats: 51 T, 16 TFL, 5 sacks, 14 QBH, 1 FF. Edge speed:left 2.56, right 2.13. OSR:7/35. First round. (A-33 3/8, H-10 1/4, BP-24, 10-1.68).
