The chatter around the SMU program when it comes to the NFL Draft rightfully centers around Courtland Sutton, a likely first rounder.  However a new face in the same position group finished the year with 46 more catches, 150 more yards, and one more touchdowh than Sutton.  Trey Quinn, a former LSU Tiger, dominated with four games of 15+ catches and six games of 100+ yards.  Despite having a year left of eligibility, Quinn declared for the draft and might be one of the first five wide receivers taken in this class.

What He Does Well:

There may not be a better pair of hands in this entire class.  Quinn repeatedly sees the ball in and secures the ball on contact with no wiggle.  Very smooth, confident, and consistent ball skills.  Has complete control and awareness of where his body is in addition to the sidelines and defenders.  Plus-route runner who pays attention to the little things.  Mentally always a step ahead of the defense.  Very tough in traffic.

Where He Needs Work:

Lacks explosion and long speed to put a defender on his heels.  May be an underneath/intermediate target only.  Limited athleticism.  Deep separation isn’t there.  Doesn’t have a high success rate on 50/50 balls, just doesn’t leap well enough.  Didn’t run a lot of different routes at SMU.
