It’s Week 16 and its Championship week!  The fantasy football season is coming to a close. I hope you won’t need to turn to the waiver wire if you’re playing in the championship game. If you’re in the consolation championship game, do those playing for a championship a favor and hold off adding players from the waiver wire until the following day after waivers process. It’s a common courtesy and respectful for those teams playing for a championship.

Last week’s top lineup would have included Sam Darnold, Damien Williams, Kalen Ballage, Mike Williams, Robert Foster, and Trey Burton. If you had these six in your starting lineup, you likely won your Week 15 match-up. For Week 16, Austin Ekeler, Melvin Gordon, Keenan Allen, Tyler Boyd, LeSean McCoy, Lamar Miller, Josh Adams, and Randall Cobb, among others, may not be available this week for fantasy football team owners. Your fantasy football waiver wire should still be filled with some quality players if you need the help.

Be cautious to add players from the waiver wires unless you really must. You’re in the Championship fantasy football game for a reason.

If you’re looking to add a player, it’s because of a significant injury or because your player is underperforming or because a team is going in a different direction in using its personnel. We’ll list extra players you can consider if your waiver wire is thin. There is little discussion though, as you should be the driver’s seat in your league if you’re reading this. Many of the players mentioned below were discussed in last week’s waiver wire article in more detail.

Don’t add a player to your fantasy football team if you don’t need one.

QUARTERBACKS

1          Mitch Trubisky, Bears

2          Dak Prescott, Cowboys

3          Baker Mayfield, Browns

4          Sam Darnold, Jets

5          Derek Carr, Raiders

6          Marcus Mariota, Titans

7          Josh Allen, Bills

There are plenty of options at quarterback for fantasy football team owners as these quarterbacks are available in over half or near all of leagues.

Mitch Trubisky still available in a quarter of leagues is still hands down the number one quarterback add if you need help. The rest are match-up based plays.

RUNNING BACKS

1          Damien Williams, Chiefs

2          Jamaal Williams, Packers

3          Elijah McGuire, Jets

4          Kalen Ballage, Dolphins

5          Keith Ford, Bills

6          Zach Zenner, Lions

7          Wendell Smallwood, Eagles

8          D'Onta Foreman, Texans

This week, there’s a little of everything on the waiver wire for fantasy football team owners.

Damien Williams is the number one add from waivers. He’s available in a third of leagues. In two games, he’s totaled 183 all-purpose yards and 4 touchdowns. Jamaal Williams is a close second as the Packers have focused running the football more over past weeks.

WIDE RECEIVERS

1          Mike Williams, Chargers

2          Robby Anderson, Jets

3          Robert Foster, Bills

4          Dante Pettis, 49ers

5          Dede Westbrook, Jaguars

6          Tim Patrick, Broncos

7          John Ross, Bengals

8          D. Hamilton, Broncos

9          Zay Jones, Bills

10        Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Packers

This is another good week to add a wide receiver who will serve as a WR3 or flex-play depending on the size of your league.

Mike Williams could again be the Chargers number one wide out if Keenan Allen misses this game. Williams has thrived as of late.

Robert Foster has been a pleasant surprise over the last two games totaling 212 yards and one touchdown. He and Zay Jones should get plenty of work against the Patriots.

TIGHT ENDS

1          Evan Engram, Giants

2          Cameron Brate, Buccaneers

3          Austin Hooper, Falcons

4          C. Herndon, Jets

5          T. Burton, Bears

6          V. McDonald, Steelers

7          Ian Thomas, Panthers

8          Vernon Davis, Redskins

With all the injuries to the position over the last few weeks, there are options at tight end.

Evan Engram is still available in three of ten leagues and has played well averaging 76 yards per game over his last two.

DEFENSES

Titans (v. Redskins)

Dolphins (v. Jaguars)

Browns (v. Bengals)

Patriots (v. Bills)

Jaguars (at Dolphins)

Most of this week’s waiver wire adds highlight good defenses with favorable fantasy football match-ups.

Each defense noted above faces an offense in this week’s top ten of most fantasy football points allowed to opposing defenses.
