WEEK 2 FANTASY FOOTBALL PICKUP WATCH

Ourlads’ Football Network host Greg DePalma and RotoExperts.com managing director Scott Engel get together each Tuesday to discuss who’s hot, who’s not and who’s hurt in fantasy football, as Scott offers his top targets for pickup.

Listen to Tuesday’s OFN Today for their full exchange. Scott’s full analysis can be found at RotoExperts.com.

RUNNING BACK

T.J. Yeldon, Jaguars: When Leonard Fournette went out early with hamstring problems vs. the Giants, Yeldon stepped in with 69 yards from scrimmage and a TD. With Fournette’s injury history, it won’t be the first such scenario.

Scott says: “More versatile than Fournette but not as talented as Fournette. Even if you don’t own Fournette, I think you need to go out and make a claim on this guy because you just can’t trust Fournette to stay healthy.”

WIDE RECEIVER

Brandon Marshall, Seahawks: With Doug Baldwin’s knee problems keeping him on the sideline for a month, Marshall finds himself in a great spot to step up and become Russell Wilson’s top target.

Scott says: “Maybe he’s not 100 percent of what he used to be, but he can still be very effective. And Russell Wilson loves throwing that 50/50 ball, especially to a tall receiver. (Paul) Richardson, Baldwin … this guy is perfect for that.”

TIGHT END

Jonnu Smith, Titans: The time is now for the second-year TE after Delanie Walker was lost for the season to an ankle injury. Smith did catch two TD passes in his first three outings as a rookie last year.

Scott says: “You have to figure that working with Delanie Walker, he’s probably learned a lot about the fundamentals of the game. … An opportunity doesn’t always lead to production, but I think you have to take a shot here if you lost Delanie Walker.”

QUARTERBACK

Ryan Fitzpatrick, Buccaneers: Perhaps the biggest surprise of Week 1, throwing for 417 yards and four TDs against the Saints. Though he’s merely keeping the seat warm until Jameis Winston comes back, he’s a consideration for short-term help.

DEFENSE

Jets: Whether the Jets actually knew all of Detroit’s plays before the ball was snapped, they sniffed things out pretty effectively. Five interceptions included a pick-six by Darron Lee – the Jets’ first defensive TD since 2013.

Scott says: “The secondary was very aggressive. Jamal Adams is obviously a striker all over the field. And the defensive line played very well. … If after four weeks they’re still playing like this, then we know we have a defense we can start every week.”
