All-Rookie Team - WEEK 3

Dave Syvertsen, Senior Draft Analyst
10/30/2023 4:07PM ET

QB

None

RB

Dameon Pierce / HOU (Round 4)

Pierce scored the first touchdown of his career in the second quarter to give HOU the lead.  His total yardage from scrimmage went north of 100 yards, 81 on the ground (20 carries) and 21 through the air (2 catches).  He did fumble twice but fortunately neither resulted in a turnover.

Honorable Mention: Breece Hall (NYJ)

WR

Chris Olave / NO (Round 1)

Olave’s 147 yards ranked fourth in the NFL and his 9 catches were second.  A break out game for the team’s newest deep threat was somewhat overshadowed by a late lost fumble.   But make no mistake about it, Olave is a threat from all portions of the route tree and is getting more and more acclimated to the speed of the game weekly.

Honorable Mention: Romeo Doubs (GB)

TE

Jelani Woods / IND (Round 3)

Woods caught just two passes but they could not have been more impactful in the Colts’ upset win over Kansas City.  Both went for scores including the game winner in which he ran a great route and won a contested situation.  The power forward’s immense size is a weapon near the end zone Matt Ryan clearly wants to use.  His first touchdown was from the 1 and the second was from the 12.

Honorable Mention: Peyton Hendershot (DAL)

OT

Max Mitchell / NYJ (Round 4)

The Jets offensive tackle group has been filled with injuries.  While that could be a factor in their 1-2 start, there are bigger fish to fry and Mitchell has actually proven himself to be a potential long term answer next to Vera-Tucker on the right side. He allowed just 2 pressures against the formidable CIN front and this was the best tape we have seen out of him so far in 3 starts.

Honorable Mention: Abraham Lucas (SEA)

OG/OC

Tyler Linderbaum / BAL (Round 1)

Folllowing the emotional loss against Miami in week 2, the Ravens came back strong and proved they are still a force to be reckoned with.  Linderbaum led the way along the line as a pass blocker (0 pressures for the first time) and grading out exceptionally well as a run blocker in the team’s impressive 37-26 road win at New England.

Honorable Mention: Cole Strange (NE)

EDGE

Drake Jackson / SF (Round 2)

The SF front is as deep as any in the league right now and Jackson’s playing (30% of snaps) is a result of that.  But in those limited looks Sunday night in Denver, he came up big.  He had 2 tackles, 1 sack, and 2 QB hits against Garrett Bolles.  He is showing a wide array of avenues to the QB and something tells me it won’t be long until we see those snaps creep up.  He is too good to keep off the field.

Honorable Mention: Travon Walker (JAC)

DT

Logan Hall / TB (Round 2)

Arguably the top defense in football held Aaron Rodgers and the Packers to just two scores but it was enough to finish victorious over the Bucs.  There is a lot to be pleased with defensively in Tampa, but Logan Hall is the one that gets them most excited.  As they ease him into more playing time (under 50% of snaps), the interior rusher led the team with 3 QB hits and recorded his first sack.

Honorable Mention: Otito Ogbonnia (LAC)

LB

Devin Lloyd / JAX (Round 1)

Three weeks into the season, Lloyd is leading the NFL in splash plays.  He has quickly become the engine to the potentially-very-good Jaguars defense.  He had 7 tackles, 3 pass break ups, and an interception in their commanding win over Justin Herbert and the Chargers.

Honorable Mention: Quay Walker (GB)

CB

Ahmad Gardner / NYJ (Round 1)

Bengals receiver J’Marr Chase was held to his second lowest yards in a game from the start of his career in which he played start to finish.  Gardner was a key cog to that stat as he finished with 4 tackles, 1 TFL, and 2 pass break ups.  His coverage down the field looks near unstoppable already.

Honorable Mention: Derek Stingley (HOU)

S

Jalen Pitre / HOU (Round 2)

Houston gave Chicago all they could handle in week 3 and Pitre was at the center of it.  He had 2 interceptions, 1 sack, 8 tackles, and 2 TFL in their emotional loss.  Talk about making a versatile impact on a defense coming from player that had a top-shelf versatility grade coming out of Baylor.  He hit the ground running, fast.

Honorable Mention: Kyle Hamilton (BAL)
