QB - Darian Mensah #10
Mensah is off to a rock-solid start, throwing for more touchdowns than incompletions through four games (not a typo). His accuracy and timing are smooth and repeatable which, at least partially, can make up for the less-than-ideal arm strength and athletic ability.
RB - Mark Fletcher Jr. #4
A physical downhill runner with size, Fletcher has proven to be more than an oversized between-the-tackles runner. He is a chore to bring down on initial contact but what makes him stand out among the rest is the runaway speed once he finds green.
WR Cooper Barkate #18
Barkate came over from Duke with Mensah after finishing second in the ACC in receiving, behind new teammate Malachi Toney. The sure-handed, crisp route underneath runner shows a great feel for finding windows in coverage and will rarely let one hit the ground if it is within reach.
OT - Matthew McCoy #78
A third-year starter on the offensive line but a first-year at right tackle where his frame suggests he will project at the next level, McCoy has gotten off to a hot start. This matchup will test the length concerns that have popped up, however, as he comes off a three-penalty game against Central Michigan.
ED – Damon Wilson II #10
Has played at Georgia and Missouri and broke out in 2025 with second team All-SEC honors. Landed at Miami this season. Explosive first step with a burst working up-field. Can beat a tackle off the ball and flashes edge setting ability. Productive pass rusher getting consistent pressure. Also effective dropping in coverage. Can get washed out by powerful tackles when playing the run.
DT - Ahmad Moten #99
Athletic interior prospect who combines a quick first step with ability to accelerate up-field getting penetration playing gaps. Effective on lateral moves and stunts. Gets in on a lot of plays along the line. Flashes pass rush skill with the quickness to beat interior linemen. Struggles at times with powerful athletic blockers stalemating him at the line.
DT – Justin Scott #5
Scott became a rotational option last year as a sophomore and flashed run stuffing ability. Athletic interior prospect with an incredible first step. Has ideal length and uses it well to stack and shed inside. Can be disruptive on inside stunts and can make plays outside his gap. Has a pass rush upside getting a push inside but needs to develop more technique.

WR - Bryant Wesco Jr. #12
The 2024 Freshman All-American missed about half the year in 2025 following a neck injury but he is back on the field as the passing game’s primary deep threat and punt returner (he returned one for a touchdown last week). While he struggles to play strong and physical, the easy speed and explosive acceleration can get behind any secondary.
OT - Collin Sadler #50
A versatile chess piece for the line who credibly projects to both guard and tackle, Sadler has settled in on the right side. Right now he projects to a late pick or free agent, but this will be a tremendous opportunity for him to prove he can play with enough core strength against multiple future pros. He has the bend and initial foot speed but there have been concerns with his ability to stay square.
ED - Will Heldt #13
Physical and lengthy edge defender who transferred from Purdue in 2025. Made an immediate impact producing at a high level against the run and pass. Quick at the snap, he comes off the edge with explosive power using a bull rush and long arm move to collapse the pocket. Adept at coming off blocks to make a play. Anchor not the best from a 5 alignment.
ED - Jahiem Lawson #15
The second best edge rusher on this roster is Lawson, a fifth-year senior who is heating up (three pressures in each of the last two games). He is the pass rusher who will be moved around like a chess piece, as he can make guys miss in a phone booth and has shown a variety of rush moves from all angles.
LB – Sammy Brown #47
Athletic, fast and physical, Brown has all the tools to be an every down pro. Instinctive playing the run he’s quick getting downhill to fit inside gaps and can thump making tackles. He also has incredible sideline to sideline range in chase mode. Has solid cover skill but overall coverage technique is still developing as he’ll get out of position at times.
CB - Ashton Hampton #2
High upside corner with imposing length and height. Adept at re-routing as a hard corner he’s sudden to plant and drive on underneath throws while getting under intermediate routes. Flashes mirror skill in man coverage and the speed to cover deep vertical routes. Has been solid in run support, getting off stalk blocks and tackling. Some inconsistency playing man, giving up leverage at times.
